Level 1

Entry Level classes are classes designed for those looking to discover, learn, and grow in a fun and stimulating environment.

For ages 4-5, Creative Movement introduces basic ballet positions of the feet, arms, and body along with associated terminology and the exploration of music and rhythm. Dancers are introduced to a student-centered learning environment full of colors, shapes, textures, and fun.

For ages 5-6, Pre-Ballet furthers ballet knowledge built in Creative Movement as students are introduced to classroom etiquette while building a positive foundation conducive to learning and artistry.

For ages 7-8, Primary Ballet builds upon pre-existing knowledge and training from Pre-Ballet as dancers start to diversify their understanding of terminology, positions, turn-out mechanics, exercises, and combinations. Lesson plans are aligned with childhood development milestones to further support students success and strength-building.

Level 2

Weekly Classes

* 2 Ballet Technique classes

* 1 Progressing Ballet Technique class

* 1 Pointe Strength or Pointe 1 class
4.5 hours per week/18 hours per mo.

Level 2 dancers are committed to enhancing their knowledge of intermediate ballet technique as they grow in personal artistry and expression. As a dancer demonstrates physical and mental maturity they may earn their first pair of pointe shoes.

           * Evaluating Readiness for Pointework

Experienced dancers have the opportunity to advance their skills with more complexity and artistry. Dancers enjoy a more intensive training regime including ballet technique, pointe, PBT, and contemporary. At this level of study, all dancers pursuing pointe-work must be enrolled in 3 technique classes in order to support their safe rate of progression.

In Level 1, dancers are introduced to foundational exercises to improve their anatomical understanding of turn-out, positions of the arms, and increased proprioception. PBT is taken in tandem to ensure mechanical body understanding (i.e. how to initiate and work the proper muscle groups to support efficient and safe deployment) while building strength.

Dancers are typically between the ages of 8-12 years, and have some ballet experience. Dancers in this group are eager to learn more about the basics of ballet and focus on solidifying the foundational concepts and movements of the art form. This is an important age for dancer development as bodies are changing and special attention is required to safely progress without risk of injury.

At this stage, increasing in-class time is critical to supporting the necessary conditioning in preparation for a dancer's transition to pointe-work by helping to protect the wellness of developing bones, joints, and ligaments. An evaluation of strength as well as standing and functional alignment will precede approval for pointe shoes. Bone growth will also be considered to be mindful of a dancer's physical preparedness. Evaluations are conducted at the conclusion of each semester during class time, or by appointment.
